“NEXT GEN DAY” at KhNURE: Launching Careers for the Future
On December 14, 2025, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (KhNURE) hosted a large-scale Open Doors event, “NEXT GEN DAY: Your Route to the Professions of the Future.” The event brought together schoolchildren, college students, and their parents to see firsthand how tomorrow’s technologies are born.
The event featured participation from the Head of the Design Automation Department, Professor Svitlana Chumachenko, Associate Professor Inna Filipenko, and PhD student Valentyn Kornienko.
This was not an ordinary tour—it was a full-fledged “navigation day” into the world of advanced technology. Participants had a unique opportunity to map their own path by exploring key fields that define the future: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, radio electronics, and biomedical engineering.
What took place:
Workshops and Interactive Sessions. Instead of passive lectures, guests engaged in hands-on practice: programming microcontrollers, exploring neural network principles, and testing data protection systems in specialized laboratories. This aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education), focused on developing essential future skills.
Meetings with Inspiring Figures. Future applicants interacted with leading faculty and successful students already involved in innovative projects during their studies, fostering motivation and social responsibility.
Career Networking. The event served as a platform not only to learn about the university but also to take first steps into the professional environment, supporting SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
Focus on Innovation. Showcasing modern study fields such as green technologies, energy efficiency, and responsible software development directly contributes to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
Developing Human Capital for a Sustainable City. Training highly qualified IT specialists and engineers in Kharkiv is a key factor in building resilient infrastructure and fostering innovative industrialization (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities), where youth can realize their potential.
The “NEXT GEN DAY” Open Doors event clearly demonstrated that KhNURE is not just an educational institution but a vibrant innovation hub where prospective students gain a clear roadmap to launch promising careers in IT and engineering, contributing to a sustainable and inclusive future.
