The World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025!
World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed annually on April 28th. It aims to prevent occupational accidents and diseases globally. New and emerging occupational risks can arise from technical innovations, social, or organizational transformations. This year’s campaign focuses on new approaches to occupational safety and health, particularly the role of artificial intelligence and digitalization in the workplace. World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an important tool in raising awareness of how to enhance safety and improve working conditions. (Information and photos taken from the UN website).
Occupational safety and health play a key role in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For example:
- SDG 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Occupational safety and health directly contribute to this goal by ensuring safe and healthy working conditions, preventing occupational injuries and diseases.
- SDG 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. Safe and healthy working conditions are an integral part of decent work. Investments in occupational safety and health can increase productivity, reduce economic losses associated with accidents and illnesses, and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
- SDG 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. The implementation of safe and environmentally sound technologies and processes within occupational safety and health can contribute to more sustainable production.
- SDG 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. International cooperation in occupational safety and health, the exchange of knowledge and best practices contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
Thus, occupational safety and health are not only the right of every worker but also an important tool for achieving global goals in the field of sustainable development, ensuring a healthy, safe, and decent future for all.
On the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we congratulate colleagues from the Department of Safety Engineering of NURE, wishing them health and professional achievements!
