Congratulations on International Girls in ICT Day!

International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of April. This day aims to encourage girls and young women to pursue careers in information and communication technologies. In 2025, it falls on April 24.

“Our shared digital future depends on investing in empowering girls as leaders of digital transformation,” said ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin on the occasion.

This year, the Day is dedicated to empowering all girls and young women—not only to participate in technological development but also to take on leadership roles.

Bogdan-Martin emphasized: a young woman from a rural area should be able to access public services online, and a girl with disabilities should have the chance to study STEM and find employment in the field.

The ITU is working to ensure that digital transformation includes all women and girls, providing them with the means to access the internet.

“Our Global Partnership EQUALS, now entering a new phase, aims to equip 100 million women and girls with digital skills by 2035. The AI Skills Coalition brings together tech leaders and academia to deliver free, personalized training in AI,” said the ITU head.

“Through our annual ‘Facts and Figures’ report, the ITU helps countries identify and close the persistent gender gap,” she added.

Ensuring full and meaningful participation of women and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic, and public life is one of the targets of SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Women must become leaders of digital transformation!
