A new wave of knowledge in NURE: “Weekend University” for schoolchildren from the leading universities of Kharkiv!

On April 12, at 14:00, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics hospitably opened its doors to schoolchildren, inviting them to a unique educational event – Weekend University. This initiative brought together the leading universities of Kharkiv to introduce young people to the fascinating world of science and innovation.

As part of this event, NURE prepared a special informative workshop “Roboday”, which demonstrated the latest achievements in the field of robotics to the participants.

The young researchers were in for a treat:

  • An exciting introduction to the key principles of designing and programming robotic systems.
  • A visual demonstration of autonomous devices in action that impress with their functionality.
  • Dynamic robot arena where robots will demonstrate their capabilities.
  • An interactive model of a smart home illustrating the technologies of the future.

Associate Professor of the Design Automation Department Inna Filipenko demonstrated the principles of working with microcontroller technology based on the Arduino Uno board on the example of the “Machine” device.

The students got an idea about:

  • The use of various sensors and actuators.
  • Practical application of microcontrollers to control the subsystems of the Smart Home.
  • The basics of interpreting and analyzing data coming from such subsystems.
  • Practical skills in programming microcontroller systems of “Smart Home” on the Arduino Uno board.
  • Possibilities of modeling and programming microcontrollers in the Tinkercad environment.

Curious schoolchildren who want to broaden their horizons felt themselves in the role of an engineer and plunged into the wonderful world of modern technology! The weekend was not only interesting, but also informative!

The participation of the Design Automation Department in the “Weekend University” for schoolchildren promotes the popularization of the F7 “Computer Engineering” educational program among future Kharkiv entrants.

Innovative approaches to controlling real devices in robotic systems directly contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure: Develop innovative control technologies that increase the efficiency of industrial processes, reduce waste and optimize the use of resources.
